JAMES ALFRED KEY
On Sept. 4, 1933, JAMES ALFRED KEY was born to Cecil and Connie Key in the Oak Grove community of Smith County. He passed away on Aug. 22, 2007 in Kaufman.
James graduated from Bullard High School in 1952 where he had played basketball and made many lifelong friends. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea from Jan. 21, 1954 to Nov. 22, 1955. He married Nancy Beth Smith on Jan. 26, 1957. Nancy, the mother of his five sons, preceded him in death.
In January 1999, James was blessed with another wife, Nona Goble. They lived several years near Kemp on the family farm.
He is survived by his current wife, Nona Goble-Key of Kemp; brother, Julius (Dub) Key of Lake Palestine; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Bob Travis of Bullard; his sons and families, David and Barbara Key, their children Stefanie and Scott from Belton; Brian and Karen Key, their children Jessica and Cory Daniels; Rebecca and Alyssa from Kemp; Lowell and Melinda Key, their children Peyton, Hannah, Owen, Sawyer, Gabriella and Molly from Charleston, South Carolina; Kyle and Julie Key, their children Nathan, Emily and Caleb from Kemp; Adam and Kristi Key, their children Makaye, Nancy, Chloe, Mary Kate, and Abigail from Eustace; stepdaughter Cheri Goble, her children Lainie and Rachel from Garland and many nieces and nephews.
James was a member of the Teamster’s union many years, driving both local and long distance. He was a member of Cedar Creek Bible Church where he served as an elder and in the Prime Timers Club. He was also known for seeking friendships and lending a helping hand to those in need. James will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services were held Aug. 25.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the building fund of Cedar Creek Bible Church at 700 N. Seven Points Blvd., Kemp, TX 75143.
