National Nurses Week

Dear Editor,

On May 6, 2008, the American Nurses Association and Cedar Lake Home Health and Hospice are celebrating National Nurses Week.

Annually, National Nurses Week begins on May 6, marked as RN Recognition Day, and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession.

The purpose of National Nurses Week is to raise public awareness of the value of nursing and to help educate the public about the vital roles registered nurses play in meeting the health care needs of the American people.

To celebrate National Nurses Week, Cedar Lake Home Health and Hospice would like to pay tribute to the nearly 2.9 million registered nurses in the nation who provide highly skilled, safe and quality care in a variety of settings, and who encounter increased challenges to their professional and ethical commitment to deliver essential health care.

Please help us recognize our area's registered nurses on this special day.
