Chaotic Politics

Dear Editor,

There has been a lot of coverage of the sometimes chaotic Gun Barrel City politics. The local business climate is always affected by the happenings at city hall. We are a growing community and it is very important that our citizens examine the candidates for office and their qualifications.

Early voting for the May 10th election begins on Monday, April 28th. To introduce the Mayoral and City Council candidates to the Gun Barrel City voters, the GBC Chapter of the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidates Forum on the evening of April 28th.

Beginning at 6:30 PM at Brawner Hall on Hwy 334 (behind City Hall in GBC), the event will include every candidate for City Council - Melvyn Hayes and John Earl Gregg (write-in) for place 2 (E) and Kevin Banghart and Dean Wright Place 4 (W). Also, two of the three candidates for Mayor, Marty Goss and Paul Eaton will be there. Mayoral candidate David Parras, Jr. is unable to attend due to a schedule conflict. The candidates will speak and answer questions from the audience as well as from the Chamber in a forum moderated by Robert Reeve of Eustace.

Please note the date and tell your family and friends about the event. Come help decide the future direction and leadership of Gun Barrel City. Isn’t your future worth an hour or two of effort? Light refreshments will be served as well.
