Letters to the Editor

Know before you accuse

This is a letter to the citizens of Eustace. As you may know, we have our city council election on May 10th. ....more>>

  • Thanks for the support
The family of Linda and Larry Fletcher would like to thank everyone for the support and understanding through a very trying time at Mid Cities Storage.

  • Observations of Gun Barrel City’s political forum
Robert Reeves did his usual great job and is a class act. But speaking of acts, it’s a shame the nose didn’t grow when some of the candidates put on their act.

  • Intelligence, not so amazing
It amazes me watching the news, driving down the road, seeing people in stores.

  • Tool Fire Dept., still a maybe
I was glad to read Mechelle McClain’s letter to the editor. As a citizen of Tool I have worked hard to understand the best path to move forward regarding the decisions around a first rate Fire Department.

  • Malakoff ISD Bond Election
Dr. John Spies, Superintendent of Malakoff ISD, was kind enough to spend some time with me today after I had twice questioned the impact on taxpayers that the May 10 bond election could have. I felt I needed clarification of what the net cost would be to the district if these bonds were issued since informational briefings by Dr. Spies had left somewhat of a void in my mind regarding which way to vote.

  • National Nurses Week
On May 6, 2008, the American Nurses Association and Cedar Lake Home Health and Hospice are celebrating National Nurses Week.

  • The Battle for Payne Springs
There is a battle going on in Payne Springs. On one side is a very vocal minority, most of whom do not live in Payne Springs, and the other side is the residents of Payne Springs. Somehow, the vocal minority of primarily non-residents feels that they should control the city and its future direction, while the city residents are just trying to go about their lives.

  • Dumped Dogs
This past week we saw the best and worst kind of animal stories in the Tyler Morning Telegraph from the horror of the seizure near Lindale to the Animal Shelter in Athens.

  • Chaotic Politics
There has been a lot of coverage of the sometimes chaotic Gun Barrel City politics. The local business climate is always affected by the happenings at city hall. We are a growing community and it is very important that our citizens examine the candidates for office and their qualifications.
