Dan Flynn seeks re-election
State Representative Dan Flynn, R-Van, has filed for re-election to a fourth term to represent House District 2. This includes Hunt, Rains and Van Zandt counties in Northeast Texas.
“I believe the 81st Legislative Session will offer many challenges beyond what we have seen in previous sessions,” Flynn said. “ I feel I am more prepared to serve the people of Texas and House District 2 than I have ever been, and with my experience I would be honored to continue my commitment to improving the lives of all in our communities. I humbly ask for their continued support for my re-election bid.”
Flynn is vice chairman of the Committee on Financial Institutions, a member of the Committee on State Affairs, and is appointed to the Sunset Commission.
He was recently elected to serve on the executive committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures and received an appointment to the UIL Advisory Council.
Flynn serves as Lt. Commander of the Maritime Regiment of the Texas State Guard.
"As a rancher, former banker, small business owner and resident of a small town, I understand what my constituents want and need,” Flynn said. “I want to use my experience to continue to represent the values of faith, family and freedom.
“Years of study, research, and fact-finding missions lead me to file and pass the steroid testing bill. I am proud to be a part of protecting the youth of Texas."
Immigration, eight-liners, and water issues will be on top of Flynn's agenda should he be re-elected. A few of his efforts include stricter enforcement of the forms of IDs Texas businesses accept, granting law enforcement the tools to effectively shut down dangerous game rooms, and working with state agencies to assist rural Texas in its water crises. Further, Flynn is open to discussing any other measures the public deems important.
Named a “Texas Taxpayer Hero” by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Flynn is renowned in Texas for fighting against government waste and returning money to the taxpayers. The Representative garnered national attention for putting Texas on the front line in the battle against drug use among students. He also cites illegal immigration and improving current practices of CPS as a few of his priorities for the coming session.
"I think my conservative view of government is very compatible with the residents of this district and I will hold fast to my pledge to uphold and enforce all laws and fight for the conservative principals of limited and less government, lower taxes, greater individual freedom, the protection of innocent lives and traditional family values," Flynn said.
Flynn and his wife, Susan, live in Van where they are involved in their community and are active members of the Grand Saline First Church of the Nazarene. They have three children and five grandchildren.
"Faith, family, and freedom is my message, and I live that every day. I will continue to do so should I be so fortunate to receive your votes for re-election." Flynn said.
