AVANTI THEATRE'S HONK, JR. OPENS MAY 1ST!

HCPAC's Avanti Theatre is opening its first major production tonight at Eustace High School. A Cast of 23 kids from the Cedar Creek Lake Area have been working at the Avanti Theatre Offices in Gun Barrel City to put together the very first Avanti Youth Production under the direction of HCPAC and Director, David Young.

HCPAC and the Avanti Society joined forces over a year ago with the idea of building a community theatre in Mabank. That idea is coming closer to fruition with Honk, Jr. opening tonight at Eustace High School. HCPAC Executive Director, Dennis Gilmore, and the Avanti Society Board, knew that before a theatre could be built a strong community program needed to be established with community wide support from businesses and the people of Cedar Creek Lake to ensure continued viability after the building was complete. The Avanti Society, under the direction of Dr. John Loar, and Cedar Lake Nursing, headed by Doug Humble, have combined resources and sponsored this inaugural production. You have a chance to show your support by coming out over the next 4 days and filling the Eustace High School theatre.

"This is a really fun show for both kids and adults. The story is familiar to everyone, but also fresh and new." said director, David Young, "This is an updated and deeper version of the Ugly Duckling story that goes beyond being a simple children's story and becomes and allegory for our society today."

There are some very talented youngsters who have been on stage before as well as some that have never been on stage that have worked very hard to put together Honk, Jr. Show your support for them and the arts in the Cedar Creek Lake Area by coming to one of their four performances beginning tonight at 7:30 PM. The production runs May 1, 2, 3 at 7:30 PM and May 4 at 2:00 PM at the Eustace High School theatre. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students and children. For reservations you can go online to www.hcpac.org and go to the Avanti page or call (903) 675-3908.
